James J. Connor, Managing Director

James J. Connor, CPA joined Mid-States with experience as CEO of a large multi-national public company, President of several middle market companies, and Vice President Controller of a Fortune 500 company. He also held the top financial position in smaller middle market organizations. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors on several public companies. Jim successfully implemented turnaround strategies in operations, led financial restructurings, and functioned as the lead in buy side and sell side M&A activity as CFO. He is a strong proponent of his people and the use of lean manufacturing initiatives, both of which he credits for much of the success he has accomplished in his 24 years in C-level roles.
In addition to the management positions, Jim has also served in an advisory capacity to management teams for over 20 years. His advisory roles include financial restructurings both out of court and through Chapter 11 Reorganization Plan process. He has been instrumental in preparing Plans of Reorganization, working with DIP lenders, unsecured and secured creditors committees to achieve successful approval of the Plans. In a M&A advisory role he has assisted several private equity firms in buy side due diligence, culminating in successful transactions.
Jim’s diverse background and belief in people allows him to work well with all levels and functions of management teams. He is as comfortable in the Board room as he is on the plant floor.
